NYE 2010

Thanks to all our valued customers and friends for your support in 2010!

Well, 2010 has certainly been kinder to us personally, although professionally we have had a few ups and downs with chefs! (Say no more!)

However...looking forward, we are extremely proud to have our new Head Chef, Shauna Stockwell on board with her Sous Chef, Tim Witherow, it has been over three months now and the feedback from you all has been incredible.

We are definitely looking forward to welcoming 2011, and we would love if you could join us up at The Stanley to help celebrate the New Year.

Shauna and Tim have put together a fabulous 8 course degustation menu. I have attached a copy of our New Years Eve menu which to us epitomises what our food is all about, beautiful French classic bistro food using the best local produce available.

We are very excited to have Mel Tompkins and Rebecca Humphreys once again playing in the beer garden from 9.00pm until 12.30am, please check out the flyer attached. They played last New Years and it was the evening was a massive success and lots of fun! I have attached information for your reference.

For those not wishing to book for dinner, please do not let that stop you from coming up to enjoy the music, we will have the bar menu available also.

And...we will have a complimentary bus service running from Beechworth to Stanley, please contact Shane or Annemarie for further information, please note we do need numbers to work out the bus pick up times etc.

Coles is one step closer to okaying GE chicken meat
Coles' response to the True Food Network reveals the company's backslide on GE feed. Unless we can convince Coles that shoppers want their non-GE policy to stay, more of our food will soon be polluted with GE.
In an attempt to fob-off customer's complaints about polluted, GE animal feed, Coles states their 'strong preference' for non-GE feed, and promises that they follow all the laws when it comes to genetically engineered toxins.

Unfortunately, Australia's current laws openly allow GE pollution in our food. Coles also completely fails to mention its chicken products. This is a serious omission, because we know that poultry producers are the most likely culprits when it comes to using dodgy GE feed.

The good thing is there's a solution. There are heaps of non-GE animal feed alternatives on the market. GE crops are only a tiny part of the Australian agricultural landscape and 50 per cent of Brazilian soy, which we import to feed chickens, is non-GE. That means stores like Coles have absolutely no excuse not to use non-GE feed; all we need to do is show them that it would be worth their while, because customers care whether their food is polluted with GE or not.

Email Coles and let them know there's no excuses when it comes to selling customers polluted, GE, chicken meat.

Apologies to all our valued and potential customers if you were unable to contact The Stanley over the weekend, apparently telstra were doing some line upgrades and the phones and internet were down for over 24 hours! And as many of you know we still don't have mobile reception in Stanley! It may have been good to know this was going to happen. I have spoken with telstra and an waiting for a complaint number which will then allow me to be allocated a case manager so I will wait in hope...
